In the first Nations Cup of the year, the CSIO5* Abu Dhabi (UAE), the team from Ireland remained clear. Jack Ryan on McGregor and David Simpson on Foudre F achieved double clear rounds. Shane Breen with Ipswich and Trevor Breen with Highland President each had a clear round. For the 20-year-old Jack Ryan it was only the second Nations Cup of his career and his second victory. The home team of the United Arab Emirates came second with only four faults. Although there were only three of them at the start, Great Britain finished third. In addition to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia also qualified for the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup Final in Barcelona thanks to fifth place behind Germany.
