The CSIO St. Gallen and fashion – a relationship with tradition. Textiles belong to St. Gallen’s DNA and beautiful textiles have always been presented during the event in the Gründenmoos. In 2017 it came to cooperation between the CSIO and the Couture-Lehratelier of the GBS St. Gallen. Inspired form the English society that meets for horse sport events and participates there with their distinctive lifestyle, the task was created, that the trainees make creations matching the planned Picnic on Whitsunday.

Martina Lips-Wiedemann, Director of the Couture-Lehrateliers, answered our questions:

What’s your connection to horse sport?

Since I am in the fashion business I connect it mostly with ladies in lovely dresses and fancy hat creations. I see scenes from My Fair Lady or Ascot and so I get ideas for new, wonderful outfits.

What is your personal CSIO highlight?

The trainees from the Couture-Lehratelier, where I work as trainer, show their own creations matching the CSIO. They have invested a lot of hours to create and sew great dresses. I am very proud of them and already pleased to see the show on Sunday morning.

What is your wish for the CSIO St. Gallen?

At first of course I hope for good weather, so that the event will be successful. For the participating riders good results, a lot of variety for the spectators and for all people in charge a great and exciting event. And of course first of all I wish all our trainees a lot of pleasure and success for the presentation of their outfits.
